Below you will find instructions for installing a turn by turn navigation program to run off line (no cell phone connection or internet required) for the drives. Links to each drive's GPX file will be available for download. If you choose to use this program, we would like any feedback you have.

Apple
To download the OsmAnd App, which will work totally offline after being installed, you need to download using a WIFI connection to the internet as Maps and the program use a lot of data. Using the App Store download the “OsmAnd Maps Travel & Navigate” app. Be sure you download the free version and not the pay version. The app will download the map automatically for the state you are in as soon as you complete the download of the program.
You are allowed 7 free maps, and you do not need to download the world map. You need to make sure you download the map for Wisconsin (Road network only).
After downloading the map you need to change some settings. Go to the Menu and select settings - General settings – units of length - set to miles. Then go back up level and select Navigation setting and set units of speed to miles per hour. Make sure that your Default profile is set to Driving (Car).
When you select Navigation the first time it will ask for permission to use the GPS system in your phone and you need to give it that permission.
To open a GPX file in OsmAnd, just download it and select OsmAnd as an app to open it (go to save icon in upper right and select icon for OsmAnd under more). To open go to the Navigation menu by tapping Navigation button, then choose Options -> Follow trip -> select appropriate map. Select pass along entire track. When you get to the starting point you need to select start.

Yours may be somewhere else. OsmAnd will be your target application (It is probably the only app on your phone that can open a GPX file. To open go to the Navigation menu in OsmAnd by tapping Navigation button, then choose Options- GPX route and select the GPX file you want. Close menu, then you need to select start when you are at the route (OsmAnd calls them Tracks) starting point.

When returning to the hotel, after visiting the 2nd Carr Valley location: After we turn right onto Herritz Rd we will pass “Road Closed Ahead” signs. The roads we are driving on are NOT closed, do not worry, continue to follow the route. We will cross over the road that is under construction. Be cautious of the bumps as we cross the construction road and continue straight onto WI-154 E.

While turning right onto Broadway, from Waubeek/ River rd: The traffic light will give you an all green light. Your right turn will have to yield to pedestrian traffic. The light will turn red, then immediately give you a green arrow to turn right, without pedestrian traffic.
While turning left onto WI-12 E/WI-23 W/Wisconsin Dells Pkwy: Use both left turn lanes. Get the whole group through one light cycle, then merge to the left lane in 1⁄2 mile before the next turn.
While turning left onto Co Rd A: The light is quite short, so stay close, but don’t force your way through. There is plenty of room after the turn for the group to pull to the right and wait for the rest of the group.
While turning left on WI-113 S/ Water st: This area may be congested because it is right by the Circus World Museum. The group may need to continue on WI-113 S about a 1⁄4 mile before there is opportunity to pull over and wait. Everyone be patient.
Parking at the MicroCar Museum: Parking is on the street, Crescent St. There is more street parking in the town square, 1 block west, on Broadhead st.
At the end of our trip, as we head back to the hotel, we turn right onto State Hwy 13 N/WI-16 E/WI-23 E: You turn into a dedicated lane. DO NOT yield or stop to other traffic, simply turn into your own lane and merge over.

Ferry Crossing: The Merrimac Ferry is a public ferry that is part of WI highway 113, run by WI DOT. It is free to ride and runs 24/7. Our goal is to get all of our group onto one boat, but that may not be possible if there is traffic waiting in line already. We will line up, filling each lane, from left to right. The left lane will have your drive leader, they are the first one on and the first one off. There is no room for recombobulation once we exit the ferry. The route continues directly to Wollersheim Winery & Distillery. Follow the OsmAnd route, or Apple/ Google map will take you there no problem either.
After Wollershiem: the OsmAnd route takes you through Devil’s Lake State Park No one needs to pay entry or have a state park sticker to drive the road on our route. After we cross the train tracks, we will be a couple hundred feet from the south shore. Co-pilots, have your camera ready. The drive past the clear lake, between two large bluffs is a view that is worth the 15 mph speed limit. Be cautious climbing the hill out of the park. The switch backs have no center line. Stay on your side of the road and stay off the shoulders.

It is recommended that you drive the full loop back to the hotel after your visit to the House on the Rock or Cave of the Mounds. This is my favorite drive of the event, you see some really nice parts of Wisconsin.
